Medicine Hat College

About Medicine Hat College

Medicine Hat College offers a pre-employment electrician program — a foundation in the trade's fundamentals before you enter Alberta's registered apprenticeship.

Medicine Hat sits in southeastern Alberta, an energy and agricultural centre near the Saskatchewan border.

Admissions: This pre-employment program (fee-based) builds foundational skills and can earn first-period credit, but it doesn't replace the apprenticeship — electrician is a designated trade, so you still need a sponsoring employer, the technical periods and on-the-job hours, and the journeyperson exams. Confirm current tuition, prerequisites and intakes with Medicine Hat College before applying. (Current as of 2026.)
